HASTELLOY G-30 alloy

HASTELLOY G-30 alloy, like its predecessor Alloy G-3, is a nickel-based high chromium alloy. In commercial phosphoric acids and many complex environments with high concentrations of oxidizing elements (such as nitric/saltic, nitric/hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids), its corrosion resistance is superior to most other nickel- or iron-based alloys.

• Widely used in gas scrubbers and fertilizer makers
• Phosphoric acid (P205) is one of the most important industrial chemicals and the main source of phosphorus for agrichemical fertilizers. Hastelloy G30 is an improved nickel-chromium-iron alloy. Previously, G30 was known as G3.

Due to the presence of molybdenum and copper, this nickel alloy can also be applied in reducing environments. Thermally, G30 is stable, so it can be applied after welding without annealing.

Applications are found in equipment for processing phosphoric, sulfuric and nitric acids as well as in pickling baths for stainless steels. Alloy G-30 is widely used in the production of fertilizers and pesticides. HASTELLOY G-30 alloy has excellent forming properties; cold forming is preferred. In general, Alloy G-30 is stiffer than the austenitic stainless steels so more energy is required during cold forming. As a result of its thermal stability, this alloy can be used without the need for post-weld heat treatment.
